Born in 1941 in Hastings, Ellie studied at Maidstone College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools under the keepership of Sir Henry Rushbury and later Peter Greenham. There she won the Landseer Prize and was awarded the Murray Scholarship.

For many years she lived and worked in Cornwall but came to Dorset in 1996. Ellie is well known in Galleries in the South West and has exhibited at the National Wildlife Exhibition in Liverpool. Ellie works in oils and although the main element of her work features wildlife, her seascapes and harbour scenes of Cornwall where she lived for many years, are among regular paintings exhibited at First-View as a resident artist.
